Your role
This role provides high level legal services within the Commercial & Property team at DCJ Legal.
It is a great opportunity to work on complex, high profile matters, contribute to public sector outcomes, and mentor legal staff while delivering impactful legal services across the Department of Communities and Justice.
What you'll do
As part of the Commercial & Property team within DCJ Legal, you will provide high level property law advice on complex, contentious and sensitive matters.
You will manage property and commercial law matters, prepare complex legal documents, and provide strategic advice on legislation, policy and legal risk.
You will also:
Supervise, mentor and provide guidance to legal staff to ensure the delivery of high quality professional legal services.
Interpret, analyse and prepare complex legal documents including contracts, deeds, leasing documents, acquisitions, disposals, legislation, policies, submissions, briefing notes and reports.
Provide high level advice and recommendations on legal standards, practices, systems and processes.
Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders on legislative interpretation, proposed legislation and emerging legal issues.
Deliver legal education and training programs to internal and external stakeholders.
Contribute to planning, prioritisation and continuous improvement initiatives within the team.
Work as part of a collaborative, professional legal team that values excellence, integrity and teamwork
What we're looking for
Extensive experience providing high level legal advice in property law and commercial matters.
Demonstrated ability to manage complex, contentious or sensitive legal matters independently and within tight timeframes.
Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly explain complex legal issues to diverse stakeholders.
Legal qualifications with eligibility to hold a practising certificate as a Government Legal Practitioner issued by the NSW Law Society.
