Do you have a background in food technology and a passion for dairy innovation? We’re seeking a driven Food Technologist to drive the development of new and improved dairy products.

Based in Melbourne, Carrum Downs (limited public transport options, own transport required)

About the role

Reporting to the Research & Development Manager, the Food Technologist will support new product, packaging and process development across our brands. The role will also focus on the optimization of product formulations to achieve cost efficiencies whilst maintaining the highest quality standards across the business.

In this role, you’ll play a key part in supporting new product development from concept to launch, including prototype development from test kitchen through to full-scale manufacturing. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver projects that meet technical, regulatory, and commercial requirements, whilst contributing fresh ideas and technical expertise to our innovation pipeline.

Key Responsibilities

- Support the development of new formulation and packaging innovations from concept to launch.
- Deliver superior quality organic products that consumers trust.
- Drive continuous improvement and value engineering initiatives, optimizing formulations and processes to enhance quality, efficiency and supporting sustainable business objectives.
- Ensure all NPD complies with regulatory requirements, brand standards and launch processes.
- Lead evaluation of product range sensory performance, nutrition, and formulation against competitive sets.
- Manage accurate product formulation design, costing and artwork development
- Create and maintain manufacturing specifications, ERP system data and product quality standards for successful launch.
- Ensure label compliance and accurate product specifications across customer portals and documentation.

About you

Tertiary qualification in Food Science & Technology, Microbiology, Chemical Engineering or related discipline.

Minimum 3 years’ experience in technical/product development or process roles, preferably within the dairy industry.

Exposure to product development projects from concept to launch.

Robust knowledge of dairy processing and functional ingredient behavior.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a hands-on approach.

Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.

Curious, proactive, and eager to keep learning.
