The RPS Group is seeking an experienced Principal Planner to join our Brisbane, Australia team. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional looking to grow their career as part of a dynamic and friendly team that prioritizes technical excellence.

You will be based within our Place and Development Team, a multi-disciplinary team comprising town planning, landscape architecture, survey/mapping, and urban design. Our Brisbane planning team is nationally recognized and undertakes diverse and complex work for public and private clients across Queensland and beyond.
As a senior planner at RPS, you will manage projects, client relationships, and project teams to ensure effective delivery aligned with client and business requirements. You will be hands-on, coordinating project deliverables, ensuring quality advice and service, and sharing your technical expertise. Additionally, you will coach and mentor junior staff, encouraging professional growth within our team.

Our senior planners work closely with colleagues to provide commercially minded advice on infrastructure projects and sustainable solutions.
This role involves client-facing responsibilities, including being the client liaison and dealing directly with other project team members, government, and key stakeholders. Key responsibilities include:
* Leading project requirements for existing clients and creating new opportunities through building connections and bidding on new work.
* Building a local profile through active industry representation and engagement.
* Management, mentoring, training of junior team members to ensure efficient work practices.
* Liaising with clients, consultants, and regulatory authorities regarding development and planning issues;
* Ensuring projects are delivered on time and to a high standard.
Requirements
* Tertiary qualifications in urban/town planning (or equivalent).
* 8+ years' experience in statutory planning (QLD experience required).
* Demonstrated capability in marketing & business development, financial management, people management, and project coordination at a Senior level.
* Prior experience or demonstrated aptitude to perform in a senior role encompassing client management, project coordination, and the leadership of project teams and staff.
