Field Officer 3‐4 – Bathurst
NPWS is looking for a Field Officer to work on the ground in National Parks across NSW. The role is full‐time, ongoing and based in Bathurst. Salary is $70,560–$75,147 plus superannuation, weekend and public holiday loading.
About the Role
* Construct, maintain and improve NPWS park facilities.
* Implement pest and weed control programmes using approved chemicals.
* Assist with fire management and wildfire response as part of highly trained teams.
* Operate and maintain minor plant and equipment for facility and trail maintenance.
* Use financial and asset management systems to support the Senior Field Officer.
* Collect, record and report data for conservation and asset management.
About You
* Passionate about community and environment, with strong attention to detail and safety.
* Capable of operating hand, power and heavy plant/tools, including chainsaws, all‐terrain vehicles and water pumps.
* Can work both independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.
* Strong communication, organisational and problem‐solving skills.
Essential Role Requirements
* Current Australian Class C driver's licence (equivalent) and four‐wheel driving certification.
* SafeWork NSW certified for plant and equipment operation, or willing to obtain certification (including First Aid).
* Chainsaw certification (cross‐cut & basic tree felling) within 12 months; two‐way radio usage.
* Capability to undertake frontline firefighting duties; willing to fly a light aircraft.
* Firefighting medical clearance and fitness assessment (moderate level) within the probationary period.
