Role
Experienced Chef Required (Thai Cuisine). Location: Dickson, Canberra ACT. Position: Full-time Chef (2 positions available).
Salary: From $77,000 – $80,000 per annum plus superannuation - negotiable depending on skills and experience.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Plan menus, estimate food and labour costs, and order food supplies to ensure efficient kitchen operations.
- Monitor the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation to maintain high standards.
- Discuss food preparation issues with managers and kitchen staff to resolve challenges.
- Demonstrate techniques and advise on cooking procedures to improve staff skills and efficiency.
- Prepare and cook food according to established recipes to ensure consistency and quality.
- Enforce hygiene, health, and safety standards to maintain a safe working setting.
- Select, train, and supervise kitchen staff to build a skilled and effective team.
- Plan and organise the preparation and cooking of food in a busy restaurant setting.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Chef in a Thai restaurant or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of traditional Thai cooking techniques, spices, and flavour profiles.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Formal cookery qualifications are desirable but not mandatory.
Schedule
- Full-time, rostered across Monday to Sunday.
- Weekend availability (Friday to Sunday) strongly encouraged.
