About the role:
Focus Minerals is currently seeking a m
Emergency Services Officer (ESO)
to join them on
Site.
Reporting to the
WHST Superintendent
, you will be responsible for providing advice, technical expertise, and support for Focus Minerals operations on all WHST and emergency situations by implementing systems, maintaining equipment and resources that support the Focus WHST Strategic Plan.

Key Responsibilities Include

* Provide guidance, advice, and support to members of Focus Minerals (FML) team to assist in their development of emergency response and medical training.
* Ensure that WHS accountabilities and commitments are understood by employees and contractors.
* Review WHS documentation such as principal mining hazard management plans / procedures / risk assessments.
* Maintenance of a WHS system that meets the organizational requirements and is positively received and utilized by FML Management and employees.
* Providing WHS service and support to all areas of the business based at FML.
* Ensure Hazards are identified, and the associated risks are assessed and effectively managed.
* Conduct risk reviews based on external information (bulletins from regulators etc.)
* Lead the Emergency Response Team.
* Provide guidance, training, instruction and support to Emergency Response Volunteers.
* Ensure adequate stock of medical supplies is maintained at all times.
* Ensure all emergency response equipment is stored, maintained and used in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations.
* Maintaining alcohol and drug testing procedures and processes and fatigue management programs.
* Initial injury and illness management procedures.
* Site access, induction, and contractor management.
* WHS Documents and records management.
* Continuous improvement initiatives throughout the operations
* Maintain site cost control and seek and advise WHS Manager on cost efficient measures and initiatives
* Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

* Certificate III in Surface Extraction is essential.
* Certificate IV in Health Care is essential.
* Certificate IV in WHS is desirable.
* Minimum 5 years working in Mining, Oil and Gas, or Construction industries.
* Demonstrated knowledge of relevant WHS legal and other requirements (Federal and state).
* Demonstrated ability to provide direction in the ESO field.
* The ability to work at both tactical and operational levels.
* Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing and can consistently demonstrate strong interpersonal skills along with the ability to influence and/or persuade others.
* Ability to influence without authority.
* Ability to work autonomously and flexibly.
* Training in Underground Search and Rescue (including BG4 training) is desirable.

To be eligible for consideration all applicants must hold appropriate work rights to work in Australia and be willing to undertake the necessary pre-employment checks which will include a medical and a National Police Check.
