Job Description
About the role:
Focus Minerals is currently seeking a
Workplace, Health, Safety and Training (WHST) Superintendent
to join them on an 8/6 FIFO/DIDO rosterbased on
site.
Reporting to the
WHST Manage
r, you will be responsible for providing for providing guidance, instruction, and detailed advice to the WHS Advisors, Emergency Services Officers and Training Advisors. This role is also accountable for enabling site compliance with all WHST legislation, regulations and obligations issued by federal and state agencies.
Key Responsibilities Include
* Provide guidance, advice, and support to members of the WHST Team to assist in their development.
* Ensure that WHST accountabilities and commitments are understood by employees and contractors.
* Review WHST documentation such as principal mining hazard management plans / procedures / risk assessments.
* Maintenance of a WHST system that meets the organizational requirements and is positively received and utilized by FML Management and employees.
* Providing WHST service and support to all areas of the business based at FML.
* Ensure hazards are identified, and the associated risks are assessed and effectively managed.
* Conduct risk reviews based on external information (bulletins from regulators etc.).
* Doing recruiting Assisting the Emergency Response Team.
* Incident review and leading of significant Investigations (ICAM).
* Conduct internal LGIRS HIF audits and contractor management audits to assess compliance and drive improvement.
* Maintaining alcohol and drug testing procedures and processes and fatigue management programs.
* Initial injury and illness management procedures.
* Site access, induction, and contractor management.
* WHST documents and records management.
* Continuous improvement initiatives throughout the operations.
* Plan, coordinate and ensure all training activities are conducted.
* Ensure that all functional areas maintain the relevant training matrices and documentation.
* Maintain site cost control and seek and advise WHST Manager on cost efficient measures and initiatives.
* Coach and mentor staff providing technical assistance and advice.
Qualifications
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
* A minimum of five years' experience in a comparable role within the Mining or Oil & Gas sectors is required.
* A Certificate IV, or preferably a Diploma, in Work Health and Safety or a related discipline.
* Certification IV in Training and Assessment.
* Certificate IV in Pre-Hospital Care is considered highly advantageous.
* Proven emergency response experience is highly regarded.
* Demonstrated understanding of relevant Federal and State WHS legislation and requirements.
* Ability to operate effectively at both tactical and operational levels.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills, coupled with excellent interpersonal abilities and the capacity to influence and persuade others.
* Capability to exert influence without direct authority.
