The Role:

We have a permanent position available for a motivated and talented Sales Estimator to join our Specialised Vehicles Division. This role will be responsible for preparing and submitting quotations, proposals and tenders for various specialised projects located at our Tomago site.

This role will involve:


• Great opportunity to promote our high quality Varley products to a broad range of customers across many markets.


• Work alongside other Varley Vehicles departments Engineering, Supply Chain, Production to build your knowledge of our high quality products.


• Coordinate the preparation of compliant customer sales and tender submissions, quotes and bids on time to the required standards including all tender response documents


• Identify and review sales and tender opportunities, ensuring logging of all enquiries, due dates, actions and work required to prepare tenders / bids.


• Build, maintain customer and supplier relationships


• Participate in customer discussions to clarify performance aspects of tenders


• Able to negotiate with customers and suppliers to achieve the best business outcomes


• Able to Interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications to determine quantities and types of materials and / or components required


• Estimate quantities of and costs for materials and labour hours required


• Drive information gathering utilising budgets, historical data, past estimates, and business unit subject matter experts for analysis and compilation of costs estimates


• Provide cost saving and design alternatives to provide competitive project delivery


• Be involved in tender kick off, progress reviews and handover Participate in the handover of successful tenders to the project delivery team for execution


• Assist with project procurement

To be considered for this role you will:


• Proven ability to provide innovative, practical and cost effective solutions for manufacture


• Strong experience with Australian and International standards


• Previous practical experience within Engineering, Design, fabrication, mechanical/electrical trade, or construction related industry will be highly regarded. Thrive on solving problems and creating innovative solutions


• Enjoy a fast pace where thinking on your feet and managing multiple tenders energises you


• Be able to work independently and as part of a team


• Have excellent communication (both written and verbal) skills


• Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of products – in particular Outlook, Word and Excel


• Experience with CAD systems such as Autodesk Inventor (preferred but not essential)
