Your role as the Credit Manager is to manage the company's credit risk by overseeing the assessment, approval, and monitoring of customer credit accounts. This role is client focused and you will be responsible for ensuring existing relationships are maintained and improved upon.
Responsibilities:
Credit Risk Management
* Assess and approve new customer credit applications in line with company policy.
* Review existing credit limits regularly and adjust based on risk analysis and payment history.
* Liaise with external credit reference agencies and insurers to inform decisions .
Accounts Receivable Oversight:
* Monitor the aged debtor's ledger and ensure timely collection of outstanding balances.
* Manage complex or high-value accounts and resolve disputes or escalations.
* Develop and implement strategies to reduce aged debt and improve cash flow including collection calls.
Team Management & Leadership:
* Manage and mentor the Credit Controller, providing training, support, and development.
* Set clear performance objectives and conduct regular reviews.
Process Improvement:
* Streamline and improve credit control procedures and reporting systems.
* Work closely with the sales, customer service, and finance teams to enhance credit management processes.
* Ensure compliance with internal controls and company credit policies.
Reporting & Analysis:
* Prepare monthly reports on aged debt, bad debt provision, and credit exposure for senior management.
* Analyse trends in customer payment behaviour and recommend risk mitigation actions.
* Support internal and external audits as required.
Stakeholder Engagement:
* Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers to facilitate effective communication and payment.
* Collaborate with the wider finance and sales teams to resolve customer queries and disputes efficiently.
About You
To excel in this role, you should possess the following skills and experience:
* Minimum 3 years of Credit Management/supervisory experience.
* Previous management experience of a direct report.
* Intermediate Excel understanding - basic formulae understanding.
* Strong understanding of credit control policies
* Excellent communication with relationship building expertise
