VFMC are seeking a highly motivated Analyst to join their Equities team, and reporting into the Senior Portfolio Manager and providing support across the team. This role will contribute to achieving performance targets for portfolios managed by the Equity team, as agreed with the Senior Portfolio Manager Equities, and in line with VFMC's overall investment strategy.
Key Responsibilities
* Monitor financial markets and contribute to assessing risk and return expectations across equity markets.
* Ability to identify pertinent investment issues and effectively communicate them within the team
* Assist in the analysis of portfolio structures and residual risk exposures relative to the targeted structure. This includes preparing portfolio exposure reports to identify risks and opportunities.
* Carry out due diligence on both existing and potential investment opportunities across both physical and derivative markets.
* Contribute to the formation of investment views and assist in their implementation across equity portfolios.
* Work with the Client Services team to assist them, as needed, with client reporting.
The ideal candidate
* Experience working in financial services (i.e. funds management, investment banking/broking, superannuation),
* Ability to demonstrate a strong interest in investment markets
* Advanced excel skills (VBA) and competence with other MS Office products is required, along with some data visualisation capability;
* A proven record of achievement in past roles would be considered highly;
* Appropriate academic qualifications that would indicate ability to meet the critical skills required for this role are preferred.
