Are you committed to providing high-quality support to researchers through equitable and transparent processes? Are you motivated by a service-driven role overseeing administrative, financial, operational, and research support functions, including research project case management?
Then join a collaborative and purpose-driven team within the Office of Research, where you'll play a key role in supporting the success of research across the University. As a Research Operations Advisor, you'll work closely with researchers, Institutes, and Centres to deliver operational and administrative support across the research lifecycle. This is an opportunity to contribute to meaningful research outcomes while being part of a supportive, team focused on excellence, continuous improvement, and building research capability.
Who you are
You're a proactive and detail-oriented professional who enjoys supporting complex work and building strong relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders. With a strong service mindset, you take pride in supporting research project delivery.
You're confident managing multiple priorities, interpreting policies, and applying your attention to detail across documentation, budgets, and reporting. Your communication skills enable you to provide clear, practical guidance and work effectively with researchers and colleagues alike. You can take initiative to support both your team and the broader research community.
Adaptable and solutions-focused, you respond well to change and look for opportunities to improve processes and service delivery. You're motivated by contributing to impactful research and thrive in a collaborative, values-driven environment.
What you'll do
In this role, you'll be at the centre of research delivery—supporting projects from initial concept through to completion and ensuring they run smoothly, compliantly, and on time. You'll partner closely with researchers, Institutes, and Centres to provide end-to-end support across the research lifecycle, from grant applications and ethics processes through to contract management, budgets, and reporting.
Day to day, you'll coordinate a portfolio of research activities, provide trusted advice, and help navigate systems, policies, and funding requirements. You'll also contribute to training and capability-building initiatives, helping to strengthen research practices across the University.
In your first 6–12 months, you'll build strong stakeholder relationships, confidently manage a range of research projects, and contribute to improving processes and data quality within research systems. Your work will directly support the success and impact of research outcomes, while giving you the opportunity to deepen your expertise in research operations, compliance, and project management within a collaborative environment.
What will help you succeed
* A relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or an equivalent combination of experience and training
* Experience in a research support, higher education, or similar professional environment
* Understanding of the research project lifecycle, including exposure to compliance or governance requirements
* Strong written communication skills, with the ability to prepare and review professional documents (e.g. grants, reports, submissions)
* Sound organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
* Attention to detail, particularly when working with budgets, data, and reporting
* A collaborative, client-focused approach, with the ability to build effective working relationships
* An interest in continuous improvement and contributing to efficient, high-quality service delivery
