Farm Mechanic / Machinery Operator WA Central Wheatbelt – Mixed Cropping & Livestock Enterprise
Join a large progressive WA farming business operating a 65,000 acre mixed cropping and sheep enterprise, maintaining modern New Holland machinery, trucks and farm equipment across a large-scale broadacre farming operation. The business operates a large modern machinery fleet including New Holland tractors and harvest equipment, large air seeding systems, farm trucks, support vehicles and plant equipment. The business operates across 65,000 acres of mixed farming country, split between large-scale broadacre cropping and grazing land, supporting a large sheep enterprise running up to 8,000 head. Staff 360 are currently seeking a qualified mechanic or experienced farm machinery mechanic to join this progressive agricultural business located in the Central Wheatbelt, approximately three hours north-east of Perth. This role will suit someone who enjoys working on machinery while also being involved in practical farming operations, with opportunities to assist with machinery operation during busy periods such as seeding and harvest. Accommodation is provided and remuneration will reflect experience.
The Role
You will be responsible for maintaining and supporting a large fleet of modern farm machinery while assisting across the broader farming operation when required.
Responsibilities
* Maintenance and servicing of New Holland tractors and harvesting equipment
* Repairs and preventative maintenance on seeding equipment, air seeders and broadacre cropping machinery
* Servicing and repairs of farm trucks, utilities and light vehicles
* Maintenance of earthmoving and plant equipment used across the property
* Hydraulic, electrical and mechanical fault finding
* Welding, fabrication and general workshop repairs
* Servicing pumps, generators and water infrastructure across the farm
* Preparing machinery for seeding and harvest programs
* Where desired, the role may also involve assisting with:
* Seeding operations using modern GPS controlled equipment
* Harvest operations including header driving and grain logistics
* Tractor work and general machinery operation
* Sheep infrastructure maintenance including yards, water systems and fencing
This is a hands-on role offering excellent variety, ideal for someone who enjoys both mechanical work and practical farming.
About You
* Trade qualified mechanic or strong agricultural machinery mechanical experience
* Experience working with modern broadacre farming equipment
* Ability to diagnose and repair machinery faults
* Welding and fabrication skills advantageous
* Practical mindset and strong work ethic
* Interest in broader farming operations
