Australian Transit Group is seeking a highly experienced and skilled Lead Mechanic to join our team in Busselton, Western Australia. In this full-time role, you will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of our fleet of buses, ensuring they operate safely and efficiently to support our public transport services.
What you'll be doing
Supervise and coordinate the work of the maintenance team to ensure all vehicles are serviced and repaired to the highest standards
Perform diagnostic tests and inspections to identify and resolve complex mechanical issues
Provide technical guidance and training to junior mechanics to develop their skills
Liaise with parts suppliers to ensure necessary components are readily available
Maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities and prepare reports for management
Ensure the workshop operates in compliance with all relevant safety regulations and procedures
What we're looking for
Minimum 5 years' experience as a qualified mechanic, with a strong background in the maintenance and repair of commercial vehicles.
Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills, with the ability to quickly identify and resolve complex mechanical issues.
Proven experience in supervising a team of mechanics and coordinating maintenance activities.
Strong technical knowledge of bus and commercial vehicle systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical components.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with team members, suppliers, and stakeholders.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and prioritise tasks effectively.
Current driver's licence and a keen interest in the public transport industry.
