The Opportunity:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Softwood Plantation Division (SPD) Compliance team to strengthen compliance performance across forestry operations. This role plays a practical role in supporting operations by developing, improving and embedding effective compliance systems that support staff in meeting their legal and other compliance obligations, while contributing to a positive and proactive compliance culture across SPD.

About the role:

The Compliance Officer supports the Softwoods Plantation Division by delivering training, auditing and risk assurance activities to help ensure compliance obligations are understood and met. Working closely with staff responsible for compliance processes, the role contributes to the development, testing, improvement and maintenance of operational compliance systems such as procedures, checklists, templates, training materials, monitoring programs and reporting. The role also contributes to identifying and managing compliance risks, supporting investigations into incidents or potential breaches, and assisting with the implementation of corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives. A key focus of the role is ensuring compliance with environmental and forestry operations legislation, including the Plantations and Reafforestation Regulation, with broader compliance support provided within SPD as required.

What you'll bring to the role:

* A self-motivated, highly organized professional with a positive 'can do' attitude to promote compliance culture
* Tertiary qualifications relevant to compliance management or forestry (example risk management, auditing, natural resource management) and/or equivalent experience
* Knowledge and/or understanding of forestry management and protection, which may include weed and pest control, fire management, planning and suppression, and silviculture.
* Ability to build and maintain constructive relationships with a diverse range of internal stakeholders across a large geographic area, including experience building relationships with operational staff
* Strong written communication skills, including an ability to interpret legal instruments and to prepare succinct, technically correct, practical, readable operational procedures and training materials
* Willingness and availability for frequent intrastate travel, requiring overnight stays
