About the Role
The Patient Care Assistant is an essential role responsible for providing high-quality support to our clinical staff (Doctors Nurses and Health Professionals) whilst maintaining a safe friendly and hygienic environment for all patients.
You will contribute to a strong team approach and undertake all duties with a focus on customer service and patient dignity.
Position Objectives
Your core duties will ensure the smooth and safe operation of our surgical services unit :
* Patient Assistance & Transfers : Safely assist patients with transfers and mobility including the proficient use of wheelchairs lifting machines and bed movers.
* Logistics & Housekeeping : Perform general duties including cleaning beds / trolleys maintaining and organising linen restocking supplies general environmental cleaning and efficient waste management.
* Hygiene & Infection Control : Responsible for cleaning all areas maintaining a high standard of hygiene strictly according to Infection Control Standards and procedural policies.
* Customer Service : Cultivate a hospitable and friendly environment for all patients delivering excellent customer service to staff clients and patients alike.
* Teamwork & Safety : Work as an active team member to support all work tasks and operate strictly in line with WHS policy & procedures and OHS compliance.
* Perform any other duties as assigned by the Peri-operative Services Manager.
Essential Requirements
To be successful in this vital role you must demonstrate :
* Able to perform physically demanding tasks inherent to the role.
* Demonstrated ability to work independently and effectively with supervision as required.
* Able to comply fully with OHS / WHS policies and guidelines.
* Proven ability to prioritise work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment.
* A strong demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a part of a team.
* Verification of eligibility to work in Australia.
* Police check clearance.
* Working with Children (WWC) check.
Desirable Attributes
Candidates who possess the following will be highly regarded :
* Demonstrated knowledge of patient manoeuvring and manual handling principles and techniques.
* Relevant PCA / CNA / AIN qualification is highly desirable.
