Overview
Teacher - Head of Year Level (Middle School) — $87,247.85 – $126,023.94 (pro rata FTE per year). Scotch Oakburn College are seeking a dedicated and experienced leader to join our team as Head of Year Level (Middle School). This is a tenured Higher Duties position with 0.3 time release, appointed until 31 December 2028, and includes an accompanying teaching load.
The Head of Year Level is responsible for the smooth and effective day‐to‐day administration, leadership and pastoral support of either the Year 7 and Year 8 cohort, operating on a bi‐annual rotating cycle. The role encompasses both the management and coordination of students and staff within the year level, with a strong focus on student wellbeing, consistency of practice and positive relationships.

What you\'ll be doing
* Developing and implementing pastoral care programs to support the well-being and personal growth of middle school students
* Overseeing student attendance, behaviour management and the coordination of student welfare initiatives
* Collaborating with teaching staff to monitor student progress and implement appropriate interventions or support
* Communicating effectively with parents and caregivers to build strong partnerships and address any concerns
* Representing the middle school and advocating for student needs within the broader school community
* Contributing to the development and review of school policies and procedures related to student welfare
* Participating in professional development and staff meetings to continuously improve pastoral care practices
What we\'re looking for
* A recognised teaching qualification and current registration to teach in Tasmania
* Substantial experience as a teacher, with a strong understanding of the educational and developmental needs of middle school students
* Demonstrated expertise in pastoral care, student welfare and behaviour management
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with students, parents and staff
* Strong organisational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities
* A commitment to continuous professional learning and a passion for making a positive impact on the lives of young people
