Hays is the preferred recruitment partner for Federal, State, and Local Government organisations, as well as leading employers in Health, Technology, Insurance, Education, and Utilities across Australia. We are currently partnering with a Federal Government Agency to recruit an APS4 Planner for a critical role focused on improving funding outcomes for participants.

This position is available across Geelong or Richmond.


Your new role


As an APS4 Planner, you will play a key role in analysing participant records and applying relevant policies, practice guidance, and legislation to make informed funding decisions. Your work will directly contribute to reducing overspending and ensuring participants receive appropriate support.
You will engage with participants and their representatives via telephone to understand their current circumstances and spending patterns. The role also involves managing moderately complex cases, conducting research, and completing administrative and data entry tasks.

Key Responsibilities
* Analyse participant records using policy, practice guidance, and legislation to inform funding decisions.
* Communicate with participants and their representatives to assess current needs and spending behaviours.
* Maintain accurate and high-quality records using internal IT systems.
* Manage moderately complex cases with support from senior staff.
* Complete administrative and data entry tasks related to participant plans.
* Contribute to the achievement of planning targets and key performance indicators.


What you'll need to succeed


To be successful in the APS4 position, you will demonstrate:

* Strong communication and interpersonal skills (written and verbal)
* Ability to manage difficult conversations with empathy and professionalism
* Competent IT and data analytical skills
* Excellent time management and workload prioritisation
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
* Capacity to manage multiple participant records simultaneously
* Availability to work from the office during the training period
* Background in the disability sector or a related field
* Experience in government customer service or client-facing roles
* Candidates must be Australian Citizenship
* Willingness to undergo two reference checks
* NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain if successful)
