Initially located at Victoria Mill, Ingham offers stunning island beaches and exciting outdoor adventures right at your doorstep. Whether you're into fishing and boating, hiking, or just chilling by the beach, the Herbert Region has it all waiting for you.
This is a permanent position in our sugar processing factory which requires shift work during the crushing season (June - December), including weekends and overtime and day work during the maintenance period (Jan - May).
Your Role in Action
Ensure Continuous Cane Supply: Manage train schedules and operations to maintain a steady and reliable flow of Sugar Cane to the mill, supporting uninterrupted production.Coordination of Train Movement: Oversee the safe and efficient movement of trains on the Herbert Region railway networks, adjusting loco schedules as needed.Real-Time Digital Monitoring: Use advanced control systems with real-time GPS and automation tools to monitor and manage train movements, ensuring accurate scheduling and avoiding delays.Data-Driven Decision Making: Apply big data analytics to predict issues, optimize schedules, and adjust operations based on real-time conditions, enhancing overall efficiency. Monitor and manage team performance.Smart Safety Systems: Implement technologies to monitor rail infrastructure and train conditions, ensuring safety and immediate alerts for any abnormalities.Personnel Supervision and Training: Supervise staff, manage associated administration, and coordinate on-the-job training for loco crews, ensuring adherence to quality control standards and efficient record-keeping.Advanced Communication: Utilise cloud-based platforms and mobile apps for seamless communication with train drivers, production teams, and logistics managers; as well as growers and contractors regarding bin allocations and harvesting information and outside organisations.Digital Twin Technology: Employ virtual simulation tools to model and predict operational scenarios, refining control strategies in a risk-free environment.
Your Winning Combination
The successful applicant will possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal (including familiarity communicating via UHF) and demonstrable ability to work alongside a range of different people.
While the following qualifications are requirements in this role, training will be considered for people who possess the right aptitude and team fit:
Cane Supply and Transport Operation ExperienceWorking at HeightsConfined SpaceMaintenance skills which are also highly desirable include; Trade qualifications, Rigger, Dogger and Scaffolder High Risk Work Licences
