Job Summary and Location
Primary Location: TAS – Mornington – Jannah Court. Permanent, Full‐time position for Techsafe Australia. We are seeking an experienced, fully qualified A‐Grade Electrician who aspires to become an Electrical Inspector and support electrical compliance across Tasmania.
As an Electrical Inspector you will inspect, audit, investigate and verify electrical installations to ensure compliance with relevant standards, codes and regulations. You will work closely with contractors, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to uphold standards and promote a safety culture.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct inspections of electrical infrastructure and installations across the state and surrounding islands.
* Ensure compliance with Australian Standards, Acts and regulatory requirements.
* Identify defects and non‐conformance and provide guidance on standard application.
* Investigate electrical shock and fire incidents to determine cause.
* Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintain accurate documentation.
* Support quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Liaise with internal teams, contractors and regulatory bodies.
* Promote and maintain a strong safety culture across all activities.
Qualifications and Experience Required
* Licensed Electrical Practitioner (electrician) with current licence (provide licence number).
* Minimum five years post‐trade experience in general electrical contracting.
* Sound knowledge of the application and interpretation of Australian Standards, particularly AS/NZS 3000 "The Wiring Rules".
* Knowledgeable in all relevant Tasmanian electrical safety legislation.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a productive team.
* Physically able to inspect all required parts of an electrical installation and work at height.
* Meet all requirements of the Department of Justice to be appointed as an Authorised Officer under the Electricity Industry Safety and Administration Act and the Occupational Licensing Act.
* Excellent communication, planning and organisational skills.
* Current, unrestricted car driver's licence.
