About The Role
The Project Engineer will help deliver our Civil Projects Capital Works Program.
In this role, you will support the preparation and management of project budgets, assist with concept and detailed design, and supervise construction activities to ensure high-quality, cost-effective outcomes.
You will work closely with internal teams, contractors and the community to resolve issues, provide expert engineering advice and ensure projects are delivered to scope, time and budget expectations.
As part of the Capital Projects team, you will contribute to the planning and delivery of infrastructure that supports a sustainable, inclusive and well-connected municipality.

Key Responsibilities
You will play a key role in identifying, scoping and estimating civil projects, developing project criteria and planning for successful delivery.
Each day, you will be involved in contractor coordination, site supervision, monitoring quality standards and maintaining daily reporting of works.
Your role will include managing environmental responsibilities on worksites, overseeing contractor OHS compliance and ensuring sound risk management practices are followed.
You will manage budgets for designated projects and ensure works are completed on time and within allocation.
A core part of the role includes utilising Council's Asset Management System to record completed works, provide accurate project information to relevant departments and support the development of policies and strategies relating to the provision of civil infrastructure.
You will also maintain strong engagement with the community and stakeholders, providing clear information on upcoming and active works, offering expert engineering and landscape advice, and supporting excellent customer service outcomes.
Ensuring all works meet environmental management requirements and completing tasks as directed by the Coordinator Civil Projects are essential components of this position.
About You
You hold a tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering and are eligible for membership with Engineers Australia.
You bring demonstrated experience in civil project design and construction, ideally within a project management or local government environment.
You are comfortable undertaking investigations, providing recommendations and preparing clear, plain-English reports, correspondence and presentations.
You are proficient in standard office software and can accurately interpret CAD plans and construction documentation.
Strong communication, negotiation and problem-solving abilities help you work effectively with colleagues, contractors, residents and external stakeholders.
You are organised, collaborative and confident managing multiple priorities.
