Aboriginal Health Practitioner, Primary Care, PFT - Metropolitan Remand and Reception Centre
We are looking for an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Health Professional to provide primary care services at the Metropolitan Remand and Reception Centre (MRRC).
Responsibilities
As an Aboriginal Health Practitioner, Primary Care, you will work as a key member of our multidisciplinary health centre team to provide adaptable, holistic, and culturally sensitive health care services to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people. Your role includes:
- Providing culturally appropriate face‑to‑face patient care.
- Focusing on prevention and management of chronic disease for Aboriginal clients.
- Supporting clients through their journey into and out of custody.
- Collaborating with nursing staff, Integrated Care Service, health professionals, Corrective Services NSW, Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations and other relevant health and community groups to ensure seamless, timely and effective health care.
Qualifications
- Aboriginal Health Practitioner: Holds a Certificate IV in Aboriginal Primary Health Care (Practice) and is registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Aboriginal Health Worker: Holds or aspires to hold a minimum Certificate III qualification in Aboriginal Primary Health Care; willing to obtain Cert IV and transition to a Practitioner position upon completion and registration with AHPRA.
- Eligible to drive in NSW and able to travel as required.
Location
The Metropolitan Remand and Reception Centre (MRRC) is a maximum‑security facility for male offenders, serving as a primary intake and remand centre. It is located in Sydney’s western suburbs as part of the Silverwater Correctional Complex.

- Salary: $69,410.00 – $90,357.00 per annum plus superannuation.
