Position Classification: Staff Specialist or Visiting Medical Officer
Staff Specialist Salary: $262,376 to $354,479 per annum full time equivalent depending on experience (Staff Specialist)
VMO Remuneration: As per current and applicable NSW Health VMO remuneration rates
Hours Per Week: Up to 40hrs per week

What You'll Be Doing
Providing leadership and clinical governance in relation to clinical service delivery of the adult mental health services ensuring clinical practice is in accordance with National and Statewide standards and legislative frameworks.

Where you'll be working
The Northern NSW Local Health District covers a large area in north-eastern NSW extending from Tweed Heads in the north to Tabulam and Urbenville in the west and to Nymboida and Grafton in the South. NNSWLHD provides a diverse range of public healthcare through 12 hospitals and multi-purpose services, 21 community health centres and other facilities. Northern NSW Mental Health has a number of inpatient units for adults, older people and young people based at Lismore, Tweed Valley and Byron Bay.

Selection Criteria
Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist Psychiatrist and/or specialist international medical graduate pathways and Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of PsychiatristsSophisticated working knowledge of the NSW Mental Health Act and demonstrated experience of its application in mental health practiceDemonstrated leadership skills and ability to manage people effectivelyDemonstrated ability to work collaborative and effectively as part of a multidisciplinary teamDemonstrated highly developed communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skillsDemonstrated commitment to teaching, continuing education, research and quality improvement initiativesAvailability to participate in an on-call roster and to respond on site within a reasonable timeValid unrestricted driver’s licence for use in NSW/Australia and willingness to travel in the course of employment
