Employment Status: 2 days permanent + 2 days fixed term to 30 June 2026 with potential to extend subject to ongoing funding
Days & Hours of Work: 30.4 hours/week
Competitive Salary: Band 6 - $101,833.74pro-rata+ 12% superannuation
Location: Corporate Centre in Sandringham, with the flexibility to work from home

About the Role:

The Social Inclusion Officer is responsible for supporting older people, people with a disability and unpaid carers to optimise their wellbeing through the development and delivery of information, programs and events that supports their engagement, participation and connection with the community. Utilising a community development approach, the role will identify needs and implement a range of initiatives that respond to these needs.

You will be responsible for:

* Developing, delivering and evaluating innovative social connection activities.
* Building social connectedness of older people, people with a disability and unpaid carers.
* Identifying and responding to community needs.
* Referring people to relevant Council and community services and activities as required.

Key Selection Criteria:

To be successful in this role, you will bring the following skills and competencies:

* Tertiary qualification in community development, social work, health sciences or a related field or 3+ years' experience working in a similar role.
* Demonstrated skills and experience in community development work, preferably within a local government context.
* Understanding of Council's role in providing services for people experiencing isolation and/or vulnerability.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Ability to build positive relationships with staff, community members and service agencies.
* Ability to facilitate and lead activities and programs.
* Intermediate level Microsoft Office skills.
* Current Victorian Driver's Licence.

Mandatory pre-employment requirements:

* Be willing to undergo and complete a satisfactory criminal history check.
* Provide or obtain an employment-based Working with Children check.
