Genomics Training and Project Management Opportunity
* This is a key role within the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at The University of Melbourne, focused on developing, managing, and delivering genomics training and capacity building activities in the Asia-Pacific region.
* The position is responsible for providing technical expertise in pathogen genomics, including developing and conducting training programs, laboratory processes, and quality management support.
* You will also be involved in designing and developing training content, including e-learning modules, to support regional laboratories in implementing whole genome sequencing.
About This Role
This position requires extensive experience in next-generation sequencing methods and strong problem-solving skills. You should have a proven track record of providing practical training to scientific and technical staff, fostering skill development and knowledge sharing.
Your Key Responsibilities
1. Develop and deliver genomics training and capacity building activities in the Asia-Pacific region.
2. Provide technical expertise in pathogen genomics, including training program development, laboratory process review, and quality management advice.
3. Design and develop training content, including e-learning modules, to support regional laboratories.
4. Collaborate with regional laboratories to implement whole genome sequencing.
Requirements
* An undergraduate degree in Microbiology or Medical Laboratory Technology, combined with relevant diagnostic laboratory or research experience.
* Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Capacity to travel frequently to regional laboratories for training activities.
