The Role
The Full-time Ongoing Bringing Them Home Worker role and Project aim to strengthen social and emotional wellbeing by providing counselling, healing activities and/or other social and emotional wellbeing supports to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, prioritising the needs of members of the Stolen Generations and their families.

About You
The successful candidate will have:
Essential
* Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.
* Formal qualifications in Counselling, Psychology, Social Work, Mental Health or a related area; the minimum qualification certificate is Certificate IV for (from a currently endorsed national training package
* Demonstrated understanding of the history of forced removal of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people from their families, and the intergenerational impacts of that removal including an understanding of contemporary issues.
* Demonstrated understanding of the social, physical, economic, systemic and cultural challenges affecting Aboriginal communities and their ability to access adequate and quality services
* Individual Case Management skills, including skills in culturally appropriate assessment of community member need, trauma-informed approaches and crisis intervention.
* Demonstrated experience in the provision of counselling & healing modalities, and social and emotional wellbeing services for community members, particularly regarding issues of grief, loss, trauma and disconnection from culture and community.
* Sound knowledge of regional and statewide services, including relevant Mental Health and Wellbeing, Legal and Therapeutic Counselling services.
• Skills in "trauma informed" group facilitation.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively and cooperatively as part of a team
* Knowledge of safe and appropriate culturally centred practices for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander focused services, including employment of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people
* Understanding of the purpose and expectations of the Victorian Child Safe Standards and demonstrated commitment to contributing to a child safe organisation in both practice and culture
Desirable:
* Experience working with community members who have experienced trauma relating to institutional harm &/or sexual assault.
* Demonstrated experience in supporting members of the Stolen Generations.
* Membership of the Australian Register of Counsellor's and Psychotherapists
* Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations.
*A police check, Working with Children Check, and current Driver Licence are required for all positions.
