The Roles
YVW's Water Network Operators are at theheart of our organisation – ensuring the reliable delivery of safe and pleasantdrinking water to our customers.
We are seeking an enthusiastic WaterNetwork Operator to join our team and deliver great outcomes for our customers. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering safe, efficient, and high-quality operational outcomes across our drinking and non-drinking waternetworks.
This role will have a primary focus on providing operational input and field support to enable the efficient delivery of capital work activities related to NRW (Non-Revenue Water) minimisation initiatives. Along with this you will also support and undertake network inspections and investigations into potential NRW events.
As part of the NRW Team, you will work closely with a dynamic and highly skilled team of engineers, specialists and network operators.

Your Key Responsibilities
* Preparing and implementing Operational Change Control Plans (OCCPs).
* Coordinating and/or performing high-criticality water main shutdowns, including isolation, de-watering and recharging.
* Performing system analysis and managing operational risks regarding safety, continuity of supply, and water quality.
* Supporting the delivery of non-revenue water focused infrastructure with technical advice during project development, delivery and implementation
* Acting as a first responder to emergencies and unplanned outages to minimise impacts on customers and the environment.
* Working collaboratively with other Network Operators and Engineers to develop a deeper understanding of our water supply network and systems while improving your operational skills and capabilities.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for collaborative teamplayers who stay calm under pressure and enjoys a mix of independent field work and office-based analysis.
* Full Victorian Driver License and CCF White Card.
* Capability to perform manual field tasks such as operating valves and hydrants, lifting pit lids (e.g. gaticlids), and handling other equipment, which will involve a moderate level of physical strength and mobility.
* Developed communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical information in plain language.
* Problem solving mindset and collaborative approach.
* A willingness to learn and become familiar with our GIS, SCADA and Asset Management systems (demonstrated experience with GeoMedia, ClearSCADA or MAXIMO being a bonus).
* Knowledge, experience and demonstrated competency in operating a water network or other hydraulic system.
* Understanding and experience with safety principles and systems when working in roadways and construction sites.
* Desirable: Cert III in Water Operations or equivalent.
