Volunteers are required to complete all mandatory checks and training prior to commencement.
This initially involves a face-to-face interview with EdConnect's Liaison Officer, followed by reference checks.
The next step is attendance at a training day where EdConnect prepares the volunteer to enter a school setting.
The training answers questions relating to the position as well as the support networks in place to help the volunteer be a positive life-changing support to young people.
As a volunteer in the school, each day will look different depending on the teacher's direction as the needs for the young people are determined.
This will always be with the teacher's guidance and will focus on literacy support for the student or students in a classroom setting.
EdConnect values our volunteers and respects the time that they give freely to help meet the needs of young people.
EdConnect is committed to supporting and enhancing the volunteer's experience so that a long-term ongoing relationship can be established, and the volunteer can see the benefits of their time given.
