Head of Department – Science
The Armidale School (TAS) is seeking an inspiring and experienced educator to lead our vibrant Science Department as Head of Department. TAS is a leading co‐educational Anglican boarding and day school serving approximately 670 students from Pre‐Kindergarten to Year 12, including more than 220 boarders.

This key leadership role is responsible for guiding the delivery of outstanding Science education across the Middle and Senior Schools (Years 6–12). The successful candidate will lead curriculum development, oversee assessment programmes and drive academic improvement while fostering a collaborative, innovative and inclusive learning environment. Experience and/or qualifications to teach Physics and Chemistry would be highly desirable.
As Head of Department, you will provide strategic and operational leadership for the Science Department, mentoring and supporting teachers to achieve excellence in teaching and learning. You will lead evidence‐based teaching practices, monitor student progress through data‐informed decision making, and ensure programmes meet the diverse learning needs of students. The role also includes managing departmental resources and actively contributing to the wider life of the School through advisory responsibilities, co‐curricular involvement and engagement with the TAS community.
TAS is seeking an outstanding educator with proven leadership capability, excellent communication skills and a commitment to supporting the academic, social and emotional development of students. Applicants must hold appropriate teaching qualifications, meet NSW teacher accreditation requirements, support the Christian ethos of the School and be willing to contribute to the full life of the School. Employment is subject to a valid NSW Working With Children Check.
