Job Opportunity: Safety Expert
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Safety Advisor to join our team in Lismore. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting our on-site functions while providing accurate and timely advice to stakeholders, the community, and management.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced safety professional to contribute to our major project that aims to bring about positive change for the entire community. Our Flood Restoration Portfolio represents the single largest public infrastructure restoration project ever undertaken by local government in NSW.
The successful candidate will have strong experience in a similar site-based construction and local government role, with a robust understanding of WHS Act and Regulations and Safe Work NSW. They will be proactive and aware of their safety and that of others, with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
* Key Responsibilities:
* Assisting in maintaining and monitoring all WHS statutory requirements for the portfolio and sites, including statutory reporting requirements.
* Providing advice, training, consultation, monitoring, and governance to support stakeholders and ensure all relevant WH&S legislation, Council policies, and procedures are implemented and effective.
* Providing critical legislative and organizational updates as required.
* Promoting the development of a strong safety, health, environment, and quality culture to support a safe and caring working environment.
* Actively training and coaching operational and project teams.
* Monitoring and conducting regular HSE governance checks.
* Delivery of toolboxes and inductions.
* Actively reviewing and maintaining procedures and processes to deliver continuous improvement.
Requirements:
* Minimum certificate 4 in OH&S management; ideally, a Diploma-level qualification in a relevant safety discipline.
* TAE40122 - Certificate in Training and Assessment.
* Strong experience in a similar site-based construction and Local Government role.
* Strong safety commitment - be proactive and aware of your safety and that of others.
* Robust understanding of the WHS Act and Regulations and Safe Work NSW.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
