About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Senior Social Worker to join our team in providing support and assistance to individuals and families facing various challenges across North Queensland.
This role is a crucial part of enhancing wellbeing and mental health support available to students in primary and secondary state schools. The focus of the role is to provide professional support and information for students, parents, carers and school communities that facilitate partnerships in decision making for enhancement of all students' learning.
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, parents and teachers. They will also have a sound understanding of child and adolescent development, as well as experience in working with students with mild to moderate mental health concerns.
Responsibilities Include:
* Accessing client needs, developing care plans, connecting clients with resources and services, advocating for their rights and offering emotional support.
* Providing professional support and information for students, parents, carers and school communities that facilitate partnerships in decision making for enhancement of all students' learning.
* Using evidence-based intervention strategies to support young people experiencing challenges with mental health, and social and emotional wellbeing.
* Providing therapeutic counselling and support through individual or group sessions to address mild to moderate mental health concerns.
* Facilitating referrals to other allied health professionals and services and assist students and families to access this support.
* Supporting school communities in responding to critical incidents and emergencies as a part of the school response team.
* Developing and/or maintaining appropriate data collection and confidential records keeping and reporting systems for individual students referred for Social work services in line with department procedures and policies.
* Participating as a member of a multi-disciplinary team within an educational setting, providing support to school, community and inter agency/networks relevant to the position.
