ABOUT THE POSITION.
We are looking for a driven and technically proficient Principal Geotechnical Engineer who also has a passion for business development.
This is a key strategic position focused on identifying new opportunities, managing client relationships, and driving sustainable business expansion while maintaining close involvement in technical project oversight.
The ideal candidate will combine a deep understanding of geotechnical engineering with a passion for networking and commercial strategy.
You will work closely with leadership teams to craft growth initiatives and represent the company at industry events and client engagements.
DUTIES.
- Lead business development activities to expand service offerings within geotechnical and environmental engineering
- Proactively identify and secure current projects through client engagement, tender submissions, and industry networking
- Cultivate and strengthen relationships with developers, contractors, consultants, and government agencies
- Oversee the preparation of proposals, including technical scoping, pricing, and commercial negotiations
- Provide technical leadership and guidance on key projects to ensure quality delivery
- Collaborate with regional and national teams to align business strategy and marketing efforts
- Mentor and support engineering teams to maintain high standards of client service and project execution
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering (or related discipline)
- Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) or equivalent certification highly regarded
- Proven experience in business development within the Australian geotechnical or engineering consulting market
- Solid technical background with experience in ground investigation, foundation design, slope stability, and construction methodologies
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a talent for building and sustaining client relationships
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex proposals, commercial negotiations, and project teams
