We are seeking a Cadet or Assistant Building Code Consultant to join our Sydney Airports team located in our Mascot office. This is a unique opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to gain hands-on experience in building surveying and compliance while working on a wide range of commercial and aviation projects in a highly specialised and regulated environment.
You'll be supported by experienced Building Surveyors and Airport Building Controllers and gain exposure to the assessment of major developments under federal legislation.
What You'll Bring
Currently in the final year of studying or recently completed tertiary qualifications in Building Surveying or Construction Management
Prior experience with class 2-9 projects is highly desirable
A strong interest in building compliance, construction legislation, and the National Construction Code (BCA)
Willingness to learn and take direction from senior consultants
Good verbal and written communication skills
Strong attention to detail and a proactive attitude
Ability to manage time effectively and work within project deadlines
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Australian citizenship (required for baseline security clearance)
What You'll Be Doing
Under the guidance of experienced professionals, you'll:
Assist with BCA/NCC assessments and technical reporting
Support the preparation and tracking of documentation for permits and approvals under the Airports Act 1996 and Airports (Building Control) Regulations 1996
Attend site inspections and contribute to inspection records and compliance reports
Maintain and organise project files, registers, and compliance documentation
Provide administrative support to the Airport Building Control team including data entry, document formatting, and correspondence preparation
Gain exposure to client communication and regulatory workflows in a federally governed environment
