We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Finance Controller to lead our Australia & New Zealand finance operations. This role will oversee all accounting and financial reporting activities, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and timeliness. The Finance Controller will manage a team of 8 professionals and play a key role in supporting strategic decision-making, driving operational efficiency, and maintaining financial integrity.
Main responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
* Lead, mentor, and develop a finance team of 8 members.
* Set clear objectives, conduct performance reviews, and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
* Promote collaboration and knowledge sharing across the team.
Accounting & Financial Controls and Compliance
* Oversee all accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and tax compliance.
* Accountable for the month-end closing, ensuring timeliness, completeness & accuracy, with an equal share of focus between the Income Statement and the Balance Sheet.
* Ensure monthly preparation of balance sheet schedules & reconciliations
* Ensure all statutory and contractual obligations are properly fulfilled – any changes in local regulations anticipated and implemented
* Ensure Group accounting policies and procedures are enforced in all countries
* Oversee the coordination and activities of external auditors and the preparation of the annual financial statements is in accordance with local GAAP and IFRS
Cash Management
* Ensure a strong and robust cash management processes
* Manage tightly Working Capital Requirement, with a strong focus on DSO
* Ensure the Delegation of Authorities is enforced in all the business
* Monitor credit risks and periodically update the Business on receivables matters.
* Maintain proper process & controls around account payables activities.
* Maintain robust internal controls and ensure adherence to corporate policies and procedures.
* Ensure full compliance with Group internal control rules (Code of Conduct, Ethic, Bribery, Cash, Business regulations, etc)
* Ensure accurate & timely compliance regarding tax matters: submission of tax declaration, coordination with tax advisors, communication with tax authorities
* Liaise with external tax advisors on the preparation of the Corporate Tax Returns.
* Ensure accurate & timely compliance with social security matters: monthly declaration & payment, communication with government bodies
Financial Reporting and analysis
* Act as the Controller for the Country: Analyse and interpret financial and operational data trends and provides insights and recommendations to Country Manager and APAC CFO
* Prepare all reporting:
* Monthly P&L, BS, FCF and non-financial KPIs reporting to the Group;
* Quarterly reporting for Consolidation purpose;
* Provide financial support for the preparation of monthly Business Review;
Controlling / business analysis & support
* Finance analysis: Develop and monitor annual budgets, financial forecasts, and economic outlooks to guide strategic planning.
* Performance monitoring: Conduct variance analysis to evaluate financial performance against targets, identify trends, issues, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
* Business Partnership: Work collaboratively with other departments to provide financial guidance and support, ensuring financial strategies align with business goals
Process improvements & Internal Control
* Drive initiatives to improve finance operational processes to drive assurance over financial reporting accuracy
* Improve finance processes to bring a sound internal control environment
* Clarify the internal governance for key controls and also the split of roles and responsibilities across functions
Other projects
* Support the Country Management in any ad hoc project involving financial operations or KPIs
* Bachelor's degree in accountancy with at least 8 years of relevant working experience, including at least 3 years of team supervisory experience
* A first experience in "big 4 type" Audit Firm a plus
* Experience as Finance Leader in a company > 40 M$
* Experience in managing country-level finance operations and leading teams
* Successful track record of process improvements
* Highly analytical with good business acumen and problem-solving skills
* Excellent communication skills and strong stakeholder management skills
* Self-motivated, independent, and versatile team player
* Hands on and Can-Do attitude
* Ability to manage and motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects
* Languages: English full business proficiency
* Willing to travel as and when required due to business needs
