Rig Mechanic – Drilling Operations
We are currently seeking an experienced Rig Mechanic to join our drilling team. This role is essential to ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of our drilling equipment and rig systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting a wide range of mechanical components to support continuous drilling operations.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform routine, preventative, and corrective maintenance on drilling equipment including rigs, mud pumps, engines, and associated machinery.
* Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical faults, including interpreting hydraulic drawings and resolving issues efficiently to minimise downtime.
* Maintain, repair, and service hydraulic and pneumatic systems used in drilling operations.
* Replace worn or faulty components in accordance with manufacturer specifications and safety standards.
* Undertake welding and fabrication work as required to support equipment repairs or modifications.
* Respond to emergency mechanical issues and assist the crew in resolving critical equipment failures.
* Assist with rig‐up activities and conduct pre‐spud equipment checks.
* Maintain accurate maintenance records, update the company maintenance management system, and ensure all inspections meet company and regulatory requirements.
About You
* Proven experience working as a mechanic within drilling, mining or heavy industry environments.
* Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
* Experience working with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
* Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and hydraulic schematics.
* Welding and fabrication experience is highly regarded.
* Strong commitment to safety and operational excellence.
* Ability to work effectively within a team in a fast‐paced field environment.
Experience
* 3-5 years experience as a Rig Mechanic or in a similar mechanical role within the drilling industry.
* Practical experience in maintaining and repairing drilling equipment.
* Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing mechanical issues in drilling equipment.
* Strong knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems used in drilling rigs.
