This role is ideal for a lawyer who has spent many years advising on business and share sales and acquisitions, and is now looking for a more balanced, flexible, and sustainable way to continue practising law, while still doing meaningful, high-quality work.
About the Role
This is a senior or mid-level, experience-led role focused on applying your existing expertise - not climbing a ladder or proving yourself all over again.
You will:
* Work on business and share sale transactions for SME clients, primarily in the sub $2m space (although we also have the opportunity to work in our mid-market M&A division, where this is of interest)
* Provide calm, practical, commercially grounded advice
* Build trusted relationships with clients who value experience and clarity, and our referrers (primarily business brokers and accountants)
* Work within a supportive, well-structured and highly systemised team that values judgment and professionalism over billable-hour pressure
There is no expectation to chase partnership, manage large teams, or operate in a high-stress, high-volume environment. Instead, the focus is on doing excellent work, supporting clients well, and enjoying the practice of law again.
Who This Role Is For
This role may suit you if:
* You have significant experience in commercial law, including M&A / business sales (typically 8–10+ years, but we're flexible)
* You enjoy transaction work, but want less intensity than a top- or mid-tier firm
* You value flexibility, autonomy, and professionalism over status or long hours
* You're comfortable working remotely and communicating clearly with clients
* You take pride in mentoring by example, sound judgment, and steady delivery
