Job Description:
As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for underwriting commercial lines for educational institutions, including General Liability, Workers' Compensation, Property, and Commercial Auto. This is a full-time, exempt role that requires strong analytical and decision-making skills.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in Commercial Lines Middle Market Underwriting. You should have a strong knowledge of General Liability, Workers' Compensation, Property, and Commercial Auto, as well as proven track record of underwriting and portfolio management in the middle market.
This role involves analyzing and evaluating new submissions and renewal accounts to determine acceptability of the risk within parameters outlined in the Underwriting Authority CL Underwriter Document. You will review, interpret, and process data from applications and loss history, and articulate risk management principles, including exposure/hazard identification and control.
In this role, you will work closely with agents and internal partners to ensure profitability and generate quality new business submissions and retention. You will also cultivate strong business relationships through proactive communication and demonstrated ownership.
Some of your responsibilities will include managing a high-volume agency assignment with increased authority limits at expected quality control results, analyzing an agent's book of business to identify correction actions or opportunities for profitable growth, and maintaining strong knowledge of the Commercial Lines marketplace and product offerings.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

* Proven track record of underwriting and portfolio management in the middle market

The final salary within the internal range is reflective of work experience, geographic location, education, certification(s), scope and responsibilities, and additional qualifications.
