The Senior Advisor role provides authoritative advice and specialist support to managers, staff, and stakeholders on workplace health and safety, wellbeing, injury management matters.
Responsibilities
* Analyse and mitigate workplace risks to ensure compliance with legislative requirements and best practice standards.
* Conduct site visits to assess workplace hazards and provide actionable recommendations to strengthen organisational safety culture.
* Provide expert advice to managers and staff on workers' compensation, workplace rehabilitation, and return-to-work strategies.
* Cordinate and advise on independent medical assessments (IMEs) and voluntary medical retirement (VMR) processes ensuring fairness, sensitivity, and legislative compliance.
* Support line managers in preparing quality employer responses for WorkCover and internal decision-making.
* Liaise with relevant professionals to facilitate effective case management and resolution of injury claims.
* Monitor and evaluate workers' compensation cases to ensure consistent practices and positive outcomes.
* Prepare high-quality reports, submissions, briefs, and correspondence to support senior decision-making.
* Collect, analyse, and report on WHS, wellbeing, and workers' compensation data to inform proactive interventions.
Qualifications
You will possess thorough knowledge and application of Workplace Health and Safety principles including risk assessments and technical advice relating to the Work Health and Safety Act 2011, Workers' Compensation and Rehabilitation Act 2003, and other relevant legislation.
You will also have a strong understanding of issues affecting employee wellbeing (both physical and psychological) in a frontline public service delivery environment.
Furthermore, you will need highly developed skills in designing, training and implementing employee safety and wellness strategies and initiatives.
Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills are also essential including demonstrated ability to prepare quality briefs, reports, and correspondence for senior decision-makers.
Bachelor degree or equivalent in a relevant field. Desirable qualifications include BSB41419 - Certificate IV Workplace Health and Safety.
Australian drivers license and NDIS Worker Screening Clearance is required.
