Northrop Grumman, Strategic Space Systems Division, has an opening for a Principal Software Engineer OR Sr. Principal Software Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Alice Springs, AU.
This position can be filled at a level 3 or 4
This role requires a two (2) year commitment and the ability to successfully pass a physical and psychological exam. Ability to work odd and/or extended hours covering a 24/7 period and periodic 12-hour shifts.
A comprehensive overseas compensation package is offered with this position including relocation assistance.
Essential Functions:
The software team in Alice Springs requires individuals with software engineering experience who can work in a structured, configuration controlled environment, primarily focused on the support and maintenance of real-time software applications. Qualified candidates will be responsible for evaluating operational software problems and providing immediate solutions to restore service. Responsibilities also include the integration and verification of new baselines. Qualified candidates must be able to work in a dynamic and fast paced team environment.
Principal duties include, but are not limited to:
1. Support, maintenance and documentation of software applications
2. Determination of the operations feasibility of software modifications
3. Development of software tools to complement software maintenance activities
4. Verification that software standards are met
5. On-call 24/7 emergency anomaly response to support restoration of software operations
Level 3 Basic Qualifications:
6. Bachelors of Science Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline plus 5 years of engineering/technical experience OR a Masters of Science Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline plus 3 years of engineering/technical experience
7. Demonstrated ability in PERL or other scripting languages
8. Experience with C++, Java, or Python programming languages
9. Proficiency with VMS or LINUX/UNIX operating systems
10. Active Top Secret/SCI or DoD Top Secret with an SSBI and counterintelligence polygraph examination
Level 4 Basic Qualifications:
11. Bachelors of Science Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline plus 9 years of engineering/technical experience OR a Masters of Science Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline plus 7 years of engineering/technical experience
12. Demonstrated ability in PERL or other scripting languages
13. Experience with C++, Java, or Python programming languages
14. Proficiency with VMS or LINUX/UNIX operating systems
15. Active DoD Top Secret Clearance / SCI Access plus a counterintelligence (CI) polygraph examination.
Preferred Qualifications:
16. Active DoD Top Secret Clearance / SCI Access with a counterintelligence (CI) polygraph examination adjudicated within the last five years
17. Possess strong self-initiative and ability to operate independently with minimal supervision
18. Demonstrated experience troubleshooting complex issues and possess ability to multi-task
19. Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with software, hardware, and systems test engineers, system administrators, and program/functional management.
20. Experience with Atlassian tools such as Jira, Git, Subversion, Confluence, etc.
21. Familiar with Agile Software methodologies (Scrum or Kanban)
22. Prior full lifecycle software development experience
23. Software applications engineering experience on Atlantis, Rodeo, Rushmore, COAST, or associated development contracts
Salary Range: $95,100 - $142,700 Salary Range 2: $117,900 - $176,900The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
