Overview
The Heart Foundation is seeking a Philanthropy Specialist to join their team in Subiaco. This full-time, permanent role is responsible for growing and managing high-value donor relationships across Western Australia. Reporting to the WA General Manager, you will lead the state's major gifts and trust/foundation portfolio, collaborating with local and national teams to deliver measurable impact.
Responsibilities
- Manage and grow a portfolio of major donors, trusts, and foundations
- Develop a WA-specific philanthropy strategy and business plan
- Re-engage and deepen relationships with current and lapsed donors
- Write compelling cases for support and tailored funding proposals
- Identify current prospects and create a pipeline of long-term supporters
- Host donor engagement and stewardship events across WA
- Collaborate with the national philanthropy team to align strategy and processes
- Work with internal teams to ensure proposals reflect key program priorities
- Provide in-person support and donor care to WA-based philanthropists
- Forecast income and report against agreed KPIs
Qualifications
- Proven experience managing major donor or high-value client relationships
- Confidence securing large philanthropic gifts (e.g. $50,000+)
- Solid interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to engage a diverse donor base
- Excellent proposal writing skills
- Strong planning and organisational skills with a strategic mindset
- Experience with CRM or fundraising databases (e.g. Raiser’s Edge)
- Understanding of the donor journey and moves management
- Knowledge of Australia’s philanthropic landscape, trusts, and foundations
- Willingness to attend events and meetings outside regular hours when required
- Full working rights in Australia
