Townsville Catholic Education Office, Kirwan supports a diverse region extending from Townsville to the Burdekin and Whitsunday regions in the South, North to Ingham and Halifax, South-West to Winton, and West to the border with the Northern Territory, encompassing Mount Isa and several small, isolated western towns and east to Palm Island.

Townsville Catholic Education (TCE) is currently seeking an experienced and dedicated Senior Software Developer. This is a Full Time, permanent position commencing 6 October 2025.

About the role

The Senior Software Developer (SSD) is an Information Technology professional who designs, implements and manages software services within the Information Technology and Services Team (ITS). The SSD is responsible for the creation, availability and reliability of new and existing software solutions to achieve TCE's strategic outcomes.

Working with key stakeholders, the SSD has a delivery focus to provide elegant software systems to deliver

creative solutions for improved services and outcomes within ITS.

The SSD will work as part of the Knowledge & Applications (KA) team to design, implement and support KA

services across TCE. Additionally, the incumbent will recommend and implement approved changes to improve and create efficiencies in the KA services catalogue.

The SSD reports directly to the Team Leader Knowledge & Applications and may lead small ad hoc teams.

Mandatory Criteria

* Current paid Working with Children Blue Card (or ability to obtain prior to commencement, per No Start No Card, No Link, No Start Legislation)
* Current Driver's Licence
* Ability to travel from time to time within the Catholic Diocese of Townsville
* Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role in a safe manner

Desirable Criteria

* PRINCE2 Qualifications
* ITIL4 Qualifications
* Tertiary qualifications in a related field
* Relevant industry experience in the education sector
* Experience with Azure Cloud Services

About You

* 5+ years in development, including 2+ as a senior developer
* Skilled in C#, .Net Core, JavaScript and Microsoft SQL Stack
* Experienced in BI reporting, SSO (Okta), and Azure services
* Strong grasp of Agile, SDLC, system design and Git workflows
* Excellent communicator across diverse school settings
* Organised, collaborative and values-driven with a passion for Catholic education
