Maleys Barristers & Solicitors – Darwin NT

Maleys Barristers and Solicitors are looking for a legal secretary to join our team on a 12 month temporary basis. The role is a full-time in-office position, 8:00am to 5:00pm, Monday to Friday. This position requires an experienced legal secretary with exceptional typing and communication skills. The successful candidate must have prior secretary experience and able to manage the legal practice for our Family Lawyer. The successful candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and be able to multi-task. The job requires answering the phone, scheduling appointments for solicitors, filing, data entry, taking payments using eftpos and managing the dictation typing for assigned solicitors. This includes preparing briefs for counsel and liaising with government agencies and downloading and copying of various documentation. You will be part of a small and friendly team. You will be paid above award wages that are negotiable depending upon experience.

Responsibilities
* Manage day to day appointments for family law practice
* Typing/Dictation to be done efficiently on a daily basis
* Filing to be kept up to date
* Management of the day to day practice for primary Family Lawyer including setting up videoconferencing and client meetings, corresponding with clients and responsibility for the incoming and distribution of the generic email stream
* Drafting of family law Court documents such as, divorce applications, visa applications, application for consent orders, drafting of wills, drafting of quotes to Department of Children and Families
* Answering phones and assisting clients/taking messages in a professional and polite manner
* Use of Leap, Microsoft Office, Outlook, diary management and Excel
Hours

The hours are 8am – 5pm (1 hour lunch break).
