About this opportunity
The ACVVS program brings together kind-hearted volunteers with seniors seeking a little extra companionship in their lives. We are currently seeking a male, Spanish‐speaking volunteer, ideally from Uruguay or Costa Rica, to visit an elderly lady in a residential aged care home in Caravonica. One hour volunteer visits are carried out weekly or fortnightly.
Volunteer visits take place weekly or fortnightly for around one hour, and focus solely on social connection - no personal care or household tasks are required. Time together may include enjoying a cuppa and a chat, discussing football and past World Cups, listening to music, talking about concerts, spending time with fluffy dogs (if you have one?), doing art or listening to music, going for short walks outside or simply sharing stories.
The ACVVS program matches volunteers and seniors based on cultural background, shared interests, and mutual hobbies to help create a natural, comfortable connection. This role offers a rewarding opportunity to reduce loneliness, build rapport, and bring joy to someone's week.
