Our client, a Federal Government department who contributes to Australia's economic prosperity, requires the services of a Lead Data Scientist to support the research program by using their coding skills to interrogate/analyse large administrative datasets; undertaking analysis using sophisticated quantitative research techniques; and, undertaking high level economic/labour market research.
Duties and responsibilities may include
* Supporting and assisting members of a high performing, multidisciplinary, dispersed team comprising academics, economists, policy officers and data scientist/analysts.
* Helping to deliver statistical and analytical report inputs, briefing materials and other documents to a high standard and in a timely fashion.
* Communicating, influencing and collaborating with a range of internal and external stakeholders to provide advice and gather intelligence.
* Building capability in a team environment through coaching others, providing performance feedback, and encouraging career development. Experience using GitHUB, Azure (Databricks and Datalake) and Posit.
* Leading and managing against project milestones and balancing competing priorities.
Key Capabilities and Experience
* Expertise using Australian Government administrative datasets including PLIDA
* Expertise in coding using R, Python
* Expertise in labour market analysis and/or economic modelling using advanced
* techniques
* Experience using GitHUB, Azure (Databricks and Datalake) and Posit.
* Understanding of metadata, data standards, data requirements, and data infrastructure.
* Experience with multilevel modelling frameworks and their application
* Knowledge of Bayesian inference and its applications
* Post-Graduate qualifications in relevant disciplines such as economics, econometrics, or data science are essential.
