As a Technical Services Officer, you'll be a key member of our small, dedicated team. In this role, you'll contribute to unique projects while supporting staff and students with high-quality library services.
About Mannix Library
Mannix Library, established in 1923, is a vibrant learning hub serving the academic community of Catholic Theological College in East Melbourne. We provide rich resources and services to support staff and students and collaborate closely with the University of Divinity through the Library Committee.
What You'll Do
* Provide friendly, professional assistance to library users, providing advice on general enquiries, circulation services, and support for higher-level information needs.
* Participate in special collections activities such as orientation tours, information sessions, and assessing the condition of rare materials (books, prints, coins, ceramics, ephemera).
* Develop tools and frameworks for managing and maintaining special collections, and assist with planning and promoting events and displays.
* Support the Library Manager in developing and promoting special collections, collaborating with colleagues on classification, conservation, and shelving.
* Maintain accurate library procedure manuals for circulation, cataloguing, conservation, and safety.
* Undertake rostered circulation desk shifts, performing loans, returns, reservations, shelving, and general collection maintenance.
* Contribute creative ideas and feedback to enhance library services, workflows, and team culture.
What You'll Bring
* Qualifications in librarianship, library technology, conservation, or equivalent experience in museums, libraries, or galleries.
* Experience delivering library and information services in an academic or specialist environment.
* Knowledge of art history and conservation techniques, with skills in managing specialist materials.
* Proficiency in library systems, digital conservation tools, and bibliographic management software.
* Strong computer literacy, research, and information retrieval skills.
* A collaborative mindset and enthusiasm for contributing to the growth and success of Mannix Library.
