This is a permanent part-time (0.38FTE) position commencing Term 2, 2026

Riva Primary School (PS) is seeking a dedicated and passionate Cleaner to join their friendly team.

Responsibilities

* Carry out internal cleaning duties, including the maintenance of carpets and hard floor surfaces, toilet cleaning, furniture and fittings, window cleaning, dusting and rubbish removal.
* Perform external cleaning duties, including the cleaning of verandas and covered areas, rubbish removal, cleaning of drinking troughs, window cleaning and rubbish removal.
* Complete vacation cleaning duties, including stripping and sealing of vinyl floors, window cleaning, shampooing of carpets, pressure cleaning of verandas and undercover areas, and other duties as required by the Cleaner-in-Charge.

About the School

Riva PS, located in Piara Waters, opened in 2022 for K-6 students, including students with special needs. The school has a reputation for high standards, both academic and social, where every child is supported to achieve their potential in a safe, inclusive and nurturing environment.

The Role

The Cleaner, under the general supervision of the Cleaner in Charge/Senior Cleaner in Charge, is responsible for a range of internal and external cleaning duties. This includes maintaining carpets and hard floor surfaces, cleaning toilets, furniture, fittings, and windows, as well as handling tasks like dusting and rubbish removal. Vacation cleaning duties involve activities such as stripping and sealing vinyl floors, shampooing carpets, and pressure cleaning verandas.

The Cleaner is also responsible for reporting faults, maintenance issues, and incidents to the designated supervisor while ensuring that schools are cleaned and maintained in compliance with Department and occupational safety standards.

Qualifications / Requirements

* Ability to read and apply Material Safety Data Sheets, equipment operating instructions, safety instructions and training guidelines.
* Knowledge of, and ability to, use cleaning equipment including polishers, vacuum cleaners and pressure cleaners.
* Ability to communicate effectively, follow instructions and work as a member of a team.

You should have excellent attention to detail and be able to work well both individually and as part of a team to ensure a clean and safe school environment. The successful applicant will ideally be organized, reliable and punctual and have excellent knowledge of cleaning equipment and safe cleaning procedures, methods and practices.

* consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before you start.
* be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
