BNP Paribas’ Global Markets business offers a broad range of products and services in the global interest rates, credit, currency, equities & commodity markets. Global Markets helps their franchise clients find effective ways to raise and invest capital as well as manage their exposure to risk. Their client base comprises hundreds of corporations, institutional investors, banks, governments, and supranational organisations.
Global Macro offers a range of products across FX, Rates, and Commodities in both developed and emerging markets. Market making, the CD trading platform is active across a wide range of cash, physical, futures, and other derivative
products in crude, gas, refined products, bullion, and power markets. Offering a wide range of hedging solutions for clients exposed to the price of physical commodities.
Providing market access and liquidity to the bank's corporate customers on complex (e.g. exotic, physical, balance sheet) commodity transactions. For some transactions, this will cover the design of products/solutions as structuring / on-boarding of the transactions.
Purpose and scope of role
Purpose:
* As a Quant long term intern in the Structured Energy Trading team, the role holder is responsible for mostly quantitative, data, and model related tasks, whilst contributing to the improvement of the trading infrastructure and developing trading knowledge. and experiences
Scope:
* Quantitative responsibility
Key responsibilities of role
* Maintaining energy market and fundamental dataset;
* Generating automatic reports to the trading team on fundamental data / designing reporting interfaces;
* Data pre-processing and coding (Python preferred);
* Performing risk mappings using statistical techniques;
* Research for commodity-related factors and associated systematic strategies;
* Contributing to the improvement of the trading team’s data infrastructure and decision-making processes.
Experience, qualifications & competencies
Essential
* A minimum of a Master's degree level in mathematics, statistics, physics, engineering, or finance/econometrics, or a PhD in another Science or engineering field.
* Experiences in coding, managing/modeling large datasets, and back-testing required.
* Ability to work with some autonomy.
* Strong interpersonal and business relationship management skills.
* Able to adopt a structured, methodical approach to communicating and executing tasks.
Preferred
* Experiences on a quant AMM/or structured trading desk.
* Knowledge related to commodity products.
* Knowledge and experience in Python.
