The Role


Health Information Services

* A permanent full-time opportunity exists for a Clinical Coding Auditor/Educator in the Health Information team.

This role will be responsible for conducting regular coding audits, providing coding education to the team, and educating clinicians on clinical documentation, DRG, and activity-based funding. The successful applicant will drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Main Responsibilities:

* Conduct comprehensive coding audits to identify areas of improvement and implement strategies to enhance coding accuracy.
* Lead and provide ongoing coding education to support team growth and professional development.
* Prepare and deliver education and training activities to the coding team.
* Educate clinicians on clinical documentation improvement, DRG, and activity-based funding.
* Timely and accurate completion of clinical coding using ICD-10-AM, ACHI, and the provision of Diagnosis Related Groups (DRGs); adhere to the Australian Coding Standards when interpreting documentation for coding purposes.

About You

* Bachelor of Health Information Management or equivalent tertiary qualification or Clinical Coding qualification or completion of Clinical coding auditing course and eligibility for full HIMAA membership.
* Demonstrated auditing experience in a tertiary hospital with sound knowledge of audit processes and data integrity.
* Minimum 3-5 years coding experience in abstracting and coding across a wide case mix in a private or public health facility.
* Sound understanding of Australian and NSW Coding Standards.
* Knowledge of developing, designing, and implementing training programs for coders and clinical documentation improvement recommendations.
* Highly technical and analytical skills with the ability to analyze complex data and report on trends; advanced skills including report writing and pivot tables.
* Thorough understanding of NSW Policy and funding guidelines and NSW Admitted Episodes Dataset.
* Highly developed interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to maintain the strictest confidentiality in all work matters and commitment to Privacy principles.
