Brisbane-based | Flexible working environment | Full-time
Are you an experienced event professional who loves the energy of live events, the satisfaction of a beautifully run project, and the privilege of helping clients bring important ideas and communities together?
Conference and Event Manager
Nectar Creative Communications is looking for a capable, calm and creative Conference and Event Manager to join our award-winning team.
We are a Brisbane-based professional conference and event management company, working with associations, not-for-profits, peak bodies, industry groups and corporate clients to deliver meaningful conferences, gala dinners, awards programs, forums and special events across Australia, New Zealand and Asia. We care deeply about the experience we create — for our clients, their delegates, their sponsors, their speakers and our team.
This role is ideal for someone who can confidently manage a portfolio of events from planning through to delivery, while building strong client relationships, coordinating internal project teams, managing budgets and keeping a close eye on every detail.
About the role
As Conference and Event Manager, you will be responsible for leading the operational planning and delivery of a diverse portfolio of events, including in-person and hybrid conferences, gala dinners, awards programs and special events.
You will be the key day-to-day contact for clients, guiding them through the event planning process with confidence, warmth and professionalism. You will also provide project-based direction to Conference and Event Coordinators and Assistants who are supporting your events, ensuring tasks, timelines and deliverables stay on track.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys the full event lifecycle — strategy, planning, production, logistics, stakeholder management, onsite delivery and post-event reporting.
What you'll be doing
In this role, you will:
* Manage a portfolio of conferences and events from briefing and planning through to delivery and post-event wrap-up
* Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor and day-to-day point of contact
* Develop and manage detailed project plans, timelines, milestones and event documentation
* Coordinate venues, suppliers, speakers, sponsors, exhibitors, entertainment, technical production and event logistics
* Lead onsite event delivery, including bump in, registration, speaker management, supplier coordination, room transitions, stage management and bump out
* Manage event budgets, supplier invoices, reconciliations and project financial performance
* Oversee event websites, registration processes, programs, speaker information and event reporting
* Work with designers, marketers and suppliers to coordinate event collateral, eDMs, signage, name badges and merchandise
* Provide day-to-day direction to project team members, including allocating tasks, reviewing progress and supporting workflow through Monday.com
* Contribute ideas that improve the way we plan, communicate and deliver exceptional event experiences
* Prepare post-event reports, debriefs, recommendations and budget reconciliations
About you
You are organised, thoughtful and unflappable under pressure. You understand that successful events are built on great relationships, clear communication, careful planning and the ability to solve problems with grace.
Candidates must have current Australian work rights as no visa sponsorship is available for this position.
What you will bring
* Demonstrated experience managing conferences, business events, gala dinners, awards programs or similar events
* A minimum of 5-7 years' experience in event management
* Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines and stakeholders
* Excellent client relationship and account management skills
* Confidence managing budgets, suppliers, venues and event logistics
* Experience preparing event documentation such as run sheets, schedules, floorplans, briefing notes, registration lists and onsite materials
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* A calm, solutions-focused approach to onsite event delivery
* High attention to detail and pride in delivering work to a high standard
* A collaborative approach and the ability to guide and support junior team members on allocated projects
* A genuine passion for live events and creating experiences that feel seamless, thoughtful and memorable
Experience with platforms such as EventsAIR, Monday.com and WorkflowMax would be highly regarded, but is not essential.
What matters to us

We are looking for someone who values:

* Strong relationships with clients, suppliers and teammates
* The magic of live events and the detail required to make them feel effortless
Why join Nectar?
