Do you have 7+ years' experience in financial leadership within the construction or project-based industries? Are you ready to shape financial strategy, lead a high-performing team, and influence business decisions at the executive level? Do you want meaningful work in a company that values flexibility, people, and purpose?
About Amicus
At Amicus, we create inspiring workspaces that make a positive impact — on people, organisations, and the environment. We prioritise well-being, growth and flexibility, offering hybrid working, activity-based workspaces, and a high-trust, results-oriented culture. We're now looking for a Finance Manager to join our Sydney team and help guide our financial direction during an exciting phase of growth.
About the role
As Finance Manager at Amicus, you'll report directly to the Managing Director and collaborate with the executive team to lead financial strategy, operations and risk management. You'll guide both local and offshore finance functions, support key business decisions with data-driven insights, and ensure strong financial processes and compliance. This is a high-impact, strategic role with influence across the entire business.
Why this role might be for you
* You're confident managing budgets, forecasting, compliance, and reporting across multiple entities.
* You've worked in a construction or project-based environment and understand the nuances of financial management in this space.
* You enjoy shaping financial strategy, influencing senior stakeholders, and mentoring others across the business.
You'll work across:
* Financial Leadership & Strategy – Develop financial strategies, budgets, and performance metrics that align with business goals.
* Financial Reporting & Compliance – Lead month-end and year-end reporting, ensure compliance with AASB and regulatory obligations (BAS, GST, payroll tax).
* Cash Flow & Revenue Growth – Manage cash flow, support commercial decision-making, and drive profitability.
* Compliance & Risk Management – Maintain strong internal controls, lead audit processes, and manage financial risk.
* Process Improvement – Enhance financial systems, automate reporting, and drive operational efficiency.
* Team Coordination – Oversee local and offshore finance team functions, ensuring alignment and excellence.
* Leadership Support – Coach other Amicus leaders in financial best practices, promoting a high-performance culture.
Here's what will make you ideal for the role
* At least 7 years' experience in a senior finance role, ideally in a construction or fitout business.
* CA/CPA qualified (or working toward it) with deep understanding of Australian accounting standards.
* Excellent communication skills — you can clearly explain financials to non-finance team members and senior leaders.
* Proficient in Xero, Excel, and ideally MYOB, Monday.com, or other project-based tools.
* Strong commercial acumen, attention to detail, and a proactive mindset.
* Experienced in guiding offshore finance teams and cross-functional collaboration.
What's great about working at Amicus
* 9-day fortnight (every second Friday off – yes, really)
* Hybrid work – 2 days in the office, the rest from wherever works best for you.
* A purpose-driven culture that lives our values of Teamwork, Accountability and Positivity (TAP).
* Tailored learning and leadership development programs.
* A genuinely supportive team that's fun, respectful and driven.
What might not suit everyone
* We're a growing business – priorities can shift and we move fast.
* You'll need to be comfortable working across both the detail and the big picture.
* We value feedback, continuous learning, and ownership — which means regular check-ins and plenty of opportunities to grow.
