Global Ocean Marine (GO-Marine) is an Australian Shipbuilding and Marine Services Company based in Hobart, Tasmania, that delivers high level, guaranteed, marine projects and operational services. Our team consists of former shipyard owners, Naval Architects, Marine Engineers, Aquaculture specialists, Technicians and Senior Shipbuilders.
About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced Naval Architect to design and manage a range of new-build projects including Workboats, Cargo Vessels, Feed Barges etc. in both Steel and Aluminium construction.
Key Responsibilities
* Design and develop concept and basic designs of Ships and Barges.
* Conduct structural analysis (including scantling calcs and FEA) and ensure compliance with industry regulations.
* Collaborate with equipment suppliers and engineers.
* Create and review design documentation, including drawings, calculations, and specifications.
* Perform stability and hydrodynamic assessments.
* Provide support during the construction phase, ensuring designs are implemented accurately.
* Review and contribute to design improvements and process optimization.
* Prepare technical reports and presentations including conceptual renders.
About you:
To be successful in this role you will have the following:
* Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or a related field.
* Proven experience in naval architecture, ship design, or related fields (5+ years preferred).
* Strong knowledge of design software such as AutoCAD, Rhino, Orca3D, Femap or similar tools.
* Experience with local and international regulatory requirements such as NSCV, MNZ/ DNV, Lloyd’s Register, etc.
* Familiarity with hydrodynamic analysis, stability criteria, and performance testing.
* Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
* Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
