Overview:
As the Speech Pathology Head of Department, you will lead and manage the Speech Pathology service at Auburn Hospital. Your key responsibilities include setting professional standards, guiding clinical excellence, and ensuring safe, effective, high-quality care.
You will provide strategic direction, support workforce capability, and maintain your own clinical caseload. The ideal candidate will have substantial clinical experience in providing Speech Pathology services across a broad range of clinical areas.
The successful applicant will be a skilled leader with the ability to implement and improve patient safety, patient flow, continuum of care, and waiting times for treatment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the professional, clinical, and operational performance of the Speech Pathology service
* Manage human, financial, and physical resources to meet service goals
* Oversee recruitment, orientation, supervision, and performance development for staff
* Develop, review, and implement policies, procedures, and clinical practice standards
* Drive quality improvement, research, safety initiatives, and KPI monitoring across the service
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* Tertiary qualification in Speech Pathology that provides eligibility for full membership to Speech Pathology Australia
* Substantial clinical experience in the provision of Speech Pathology services across a broad range of clinical areas
* Demonstrated leadership skills and previous management experience in a healthcare setting
* Demonstrated ability to implement and improve patient safety, patient flow, continuum of care, and waiting times for treatment
* Demonstrated commitment to and experience in teaching, quality improvement, and professional development
